LED cabinets for permanent installations are usually less expensive because of simplified hardware design, but they require more time and effort for installation compared to rental cabinets, which are designed for quick and reliable assembly.
SCREEN SIZE AND PIXEL PITCH
This is calculated according to on-site dimensions, video resources and audiences.
Firstly, figure out the physical constraints -ceiling height, stage depth and width, distance from the screen to the first row of seating. The rule of for calculating the ideal pixel pitch is 5 feet(1.524meter) per millimeter. So, with 4mm pixel pitch your minimal viewing distance is about 20 feet(6.096meter). If you are in a theatre and first row is about 25 feet from the screen position, you should choose an LED screen with pixel pitch of 5mm or smaller. For large screen outdoor installation you may need 10, 15 or even 20mm pixel pitch.
SCREEN SIZE AND CONTENT
How you want the graphics displayed on a screen is important when configuring the size of your screen. For instance, if you want true HD and have a 3mm LED the screen has to be 18.9ft long before it is truly HD (1920 times 3mm equals 5760mm, then convert to feet). If the pixel pitch is 10mm the screen would have to be 63ft long before it would be HD LED Screen.
Since LEDs are very specific when it comes to displaying pixels, it’s also important to keep in mind the size and resolution of your graphics as it relates directly to the size of your screen. For instance, if you want a 4k resolution (3840 × 2160) for your LED screen you will also want to be sure your graphics are created to those specifications (3840 × 2160, aspect ratio 16:9).
